14 грудня 2023 року, в День шанування ліквідаторів аварії на ЧАЕС, в університеті відбулася зустріч викладачів кафедри онкології та радіології з радіаційною медициною, студентів медичного та стоматологічного факультетів ПДМУ з полтавськими ліквідаторами-чорнобильцями Іваном Якушевим, Ксенією Нікітчук та Станіславом Колодій. Вона була присвячена пам’яті усіх жертв Чорнобильської катастрофи 1986 року та вшануванні викладачів, працівників і співробітників університету, які у 1986-1987 роках були учасниками ліквідації наслідків аварії на Чорнобильській АЕС. Професори Володимир Баштан, Анатолій Чорнобай, доценти Валерій Марченко, Лариса Васько та асистент Олександр Гагал, організатори зворушливої зустрічі, познайомили студентів із даними та загальною характеристикою ЧАЕС, причиною і наслідками аварії, аналізом зв'язку між аварією на ЧАЕС та онкологічними захворюваннями (рак щитоподібної залози, лейкемія, спадкові та інші хвороби), загальним впливом аварії на здоров’я людей. Реальні події та особисті спогади гостей заходу, презентація фільмів «Чорнобиль не має минулого часу» та «Ліквідатори» повернули усіх учасників заходу до історічних подій України 1986 року. Тоді понад 20 тисяч пожежників, будівельників, військових, комунальників, правоохоронців та медиків із Полтавщини ціною власного життя та здоровʼя долали наслідки страшної катастрофи. Тоді вони захистили Україну і увесь світ.
Назавжди в нашій памʼяті кожен, хто захищав безпеку українців 37 років тому і робить це щодня. Вічна памʼять тим, хто заплатив за це найвищу ціну!

АНТОНЕНКО Олександр Іванович, начальник відділу охорони праці академії, полковник податкової міліції у відставці, в січні-лютому 1987р. курсант школи міліції, охоронець території місцевих сіл Чорнобильського району з боку Білорусії.
БОНДАРЕНКО Валерій Володимирович, асистент кафедри хірургічної стоматології та щелепно-лицевої хірургії з пластичною та реконструктивною хірургією голови та шиї, кандидат мед. наук, полковник медичної служби запасу, у Чорнобильській зоні з травня по жовтень 1987 року покликаний воєнкоматом як фельдшер військового шпиталю, дозиметрист пункту пропуску авто, брав участь у розчищенні «рудого лісу».
ЖДАН Вячеслав Миколайович, ректор університету, доктор мед. наук, професор, заслужений лікар України, полковник медичної служби запасу, у Чорнобильській зоні у червні-липні 1986р., рядовий, служба в лавах Радянської Армії, брав участь у розгортанні та праці медичного пункту військового шпиталю.
КИСЛА Валентина Володимирівна, лаборантка кафедри ортопедичної стоматології з імплантологією, до 1986 року, мешканка м. Прип’ять, працювала на радіозаводі, 28 квітня року в складі міської служби цивільного захисту брала участь в організації евакуації жителів Прип'яті, з сім'єю переїхала в Полтаву у 1986 році.
КОЛАЧИНСЬКИЙ Віталій Гнатович, начальник навчальної частини кафедри медицини катастроф та військової медицини, полковник медичної служби у відставці, у травні-липні 1989 року - провідний хірург у Чорнобильській зоні.
ЛЕБЕДЄВ Віктор Альбертович, фахівець відділу управління освітньо-виховною та гуманітарною роботою з молоддю, майор запасу, в серпні-вересні 1986 року, працював в АК-2214 на будівництві автодороги в 30-ти кілометровій зоні, начальник зведеної автоколони Полтавського облавтоуправління.
НЄМЧЕНКО Іван Іванович, доцент кафедри хірургії № 1, кандидат мед. наук, лейтенант медичної служби запасу, у Чорнобильській зоні у червні-вересні 1986 року сержант ремонтної роти, служба в лавах Радянської Армії, брав участь у дезактивації території станції, розчищенні «рудого лісу», випускник Полтавського МСІ.

РЕШЕТНИК Віктор Якович, водій адміністративно-господарчої частини, у Чорнобильській зоні влітку 1986 року, водій АТП «Водник», брав участь у бурінні свердловин і прокладанні водогонів між населеними пунктами в 30-ти кілометровій зоні Чорнобильського району.
Commemoration Day for Chernobyl Liquidators at the University: Meetings, Recollections of Participants
On December 14, 2023, on the Commemoration Day for Chernobyl Liquidators, a meeting took place at the university involving faculty members from the Department of Oncology and Radiology with Radiation Medicine, as well as students from the medical and dental faculties of Poltava State Medical University, along with Chernobyl liquidators from Poltava – Ivan Yakushev, Kseniia Nikitchuk and Stanislav Kolodii.
The event was dedicated to the memory of all the victims of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 and the honoring of the academic staff members and employees who participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in 1986-1987. Professors Volodymyr Bashtan, Anatolii Chernobay, Associate Professors Valerii Marchenko, Larysa Vasko, and Assistant Oleksandr Hahal, organizers of the touching meeting, acquainted students with the details and general characteristics of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the causes, and consequences of the accident, and analyzed the connection between the Chernobyl accident and oncological diseases (thyroid cancer, leukemia, hereditary and other conditions), as well as the overall impact of the disaster on people's health.
Real events and personal recollections of the guests, coupled with the watching of documentaries such as "Chernobyl Has No Past" and "Liquidators," brought all participants back to the historical events of Ukraine in 1986. At that time, over 20,000 firefighters, builders, military personnel, utility workers, law enforcement officers and medical professionals from Poltava region bravely faced the consequences of a dreadful catastrophe, risking their lives and health. They defended Ukraine and the world.
Forever in our memory are all those who safeguarded the well-being of Ukrainians 37 years ago and continue to do so every day. Eternal memory to those who paid the highest price for it!

ANTONENKO Oleksandr Ivanovych, Head of the Occupational Safety Department of the academy, retired Colonel of the Financial Police, in January-February 1987, a cadet of the police school, guarded the territory of local villages of the Chornobyl district from the Belarusian side.
BONDARENKO Valerii Volodymyrovych, Assistant at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, PhD, retired Colonel of the Army Medical Service, in the Chornobyl zone from May to October 1987, drafted by the military enlistment office as a paramedic of the military hospital, dosimetrist of the auto checkpoint, participated in clearing the "red forest."
ZHDAN Viacheslav Mykolayovych, Rector of the university, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, retired Colonel of the Army Medical Service, in the Chornobyl zone in June-July 1986, a Private, serving in the ranks of the Soviet Army, participated in deploying and working at the medical point of the military hospital.
KYSLA Valentyna Volodymyrivna, Laboratory Assistant at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry with Implantology, until 1986, a resident of Prypiat city, worked at the radio plant, on April 28, 1986, as part of the city civil defense service, participated in organizing the evacuation of Prypiat residents, moved to Poltava with her family in 1986.
KOLACHYNSKYI Vitalii Hnatovych, Chief of the educational part of the Department of Accident and Military Medicine, retired Colonel of the Army Medical Service in reserve, in May-July 1989, a lead surgeon in the Chornobyl zone.
