Щороку в четверту суботу листопада Україна вшановує пам'ять жертв Голодомору 1932–1933 рр. і масових штучних голодів 1921–1923, і 1946–1947 рр. Цього року День пам'яті жертв голодоморів припадає на 25 листопада.

1932-1933 рр. для України стали часом національної катастрофи, яка поставила націю на межу зникнення. Цей голод не був наслідком стихійного лиха, засухи або неврожаю, а став результатом цілеспрямованої політики комуністичного тоталітарного режиму.   Влада встановила непомірно високі плани державних хлібозаготівель та примусово вилучила у людей землі, майно та їжу, що призвело до загибелі мільйонів українців. У 2006 році Законом України Голодомор 1932-1933 рр. визнаний геноцидом українського народу.

Читальна зала підготувала тематичну виставку для здобувачів освіти, лікарів-інтернів, викладачів, науковців.

Holodomor in Ukraine: Always Remembering

Every year on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and the mass deliberate famines of 1921-1923 and 1946-1947. This year, the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Holodomor falls on November 25.

The years 1932-1933 marked a national catastrophe for Ukraine, pushing the nation to the brink of extinction. This famine was not the result of natural disasters, droughts or crop failures; rather, it was the outcome of a deliberate policy by the communist totalitarian regime. The authorities set excessively high state grain procurement quotas and forcibly confiscated land, property and food from the people, leading to the death of millions of Ukrainians. In 2006, the Ukrainian Parliament recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people.
