29 січня у Полтавському державному медичному університеті відбувся захід, присвячений пам’яті Героїв Крут – молодих українців, які у 1918 році стали на захист державності, проявивши відданість і жертовність заради майбутнього України.
Зі вступним словом до учасників звернувся проректор з науково-педагогічної та виховної роботи ПДМУ, професор Валерій Похилько, наголосивши на важливості цієї дати для студентської спільноти: «Ця дата є знаковою для студентства, адже вона символізує їхню національну активну позицію, яка передається крізь роки. Ми, українці, у цьому плані особливі: під час Майдану, на початку широкомасштабної війни та сьогодні наші студенти не лише вчаться, а й боронять Україну. Сьогодні згадаємо всіх, хто боровся і бореться за нашу державу, адже саме ця єдність дає нам силу вистояти перед викликами, що постають перед Україною».
До заходу долучився через платформу zoom кандидат історичних наук, журналіст, заступник директора з наукової роботи Національного військово-історичного музею України Ярослав Тинченко, який розповів про історичне значення бою під Крутами, його передумови, а також поділився унікальним відкриттям 2022 року – встановленням біографії головного лікаря військового госпіталю при бою під Крутами, хірурга Петра Бочарова та його трагічну долю.
Також перед студентами виступив військовий, штаб-сержант Збройних Сил України, учасник бойових дій 2014-2015, а також 2022 років Віктор Кривобок, який поділився власним досвідом захисту України, викликами, які постають перед військовими, інформаційну війну та закликав молодь ПДМУ до небайдужості, підтримки ветеранів і усвідомлення своєї ролі у майбутньому держави.
Захід викликав жвавий інтерес у студентів, вони активно ставили запитання про історичні події, зокрема, про роль медиків у бою під Крутами. На завершення Ярослав Тинченко передав до бібліотеки та народного музею історії ПДМУ два примірники книги «Крути. 100 років подвигу» (1918–2018 р.р. ) з власним автографом.
Пам’ять про Героїв Крут – це не просто відлуння минулого, а моральний компас, що нагадує: історія не завершується на одній події чи поколінні. Вона триває в нашій відповідальності перед Україною – у здатності робити вибір, відстоювати цінності та не втрачати силу духу навіть перед найскладнішими викликами.
Kruty: a feat that inspires generations – PSMU Honors the Heroes
On January 29, Poltava State Medical University (PSMU) held an event dedicated to honoring the memory of the Heroes of Kruty—young Ukrainians who, in 1918, stood in defense of their statehood, demonstrating devotion and sacrifice for the future of Ukraine.
The event opened with a speech from Professor Valerii Pokhylko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Extracurricular Activities at PSMU, who emphasized the significance of this date for the student community:
"This date is symbolic for students, as it reflects their national activism, passed down through generations. We, Ukrainians, are unique in this regard: during the Maidan, at the beginning of the full-scale war, and even today, our students are not only studying but also defending Ukraine. Today, we remember all those who fought and continue to fight for our country, as this unity gives us the strength to withstand the challenges facing Ukraine."
Joining the event via Zoom was Yaroslav Tynchenko, Ph.D. in History, journalist, and Deputy Director for Research at the National Military History Museum of Ukraine. He spoke about the historical significance of the Battle of Kruty, its background, and shared a unique discovery made in 2022—the identification of the chief doctor of the military hospital at the Battle of Kruty, surgeon Petro Bocharov, and the tragic fate that befell him.
Additionally, students had the opportunity to hear from Viktor Kryvobok, a military officer, Staff Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a combat veteran of the 2014-2015 and 2022 campaigns. He shared his personal experience in defending Ukraine, the challenges faced by the military, the ongoing information warfare, and urged PSMU students to remain engaged, support veterans, and recognize their role in the country’s future.
The event sparked great interest among students, who actively asked questions about historical events, particularly the role of medics in the Battle of Kruty.
At the conclusion of the event, Yaroslav Tynchenko presented two copies of his book, "Kruty: 100 Years of Heroism (1918–2018)," personally signed, to the PSMU Library and the PSMU History Museum.
The memory of the Heroes of Kruty is not merely an echo of the past but a moral compass, reminding us that history does not end with a single event or generation. It continues through our responsibility to Ukraine—our ability to make choices, defend values, and maintain resilience even in the face of the most difficult challenges.
