У січні виповнилося 190 років від дня народження Володимира Боніфатійовича Антоновича – лікаря і видатного українського історика, археолога, етнографа, археографа, ідеолога національно-визвольного руху 60-70-х років XIX ст.; польського шляхтича, який «зрікся свого кола і поклав своє життя на те, щоб повернутися до народу, залишеного колись предками…». Найвидатніший учень Володимира Антоновича – Михайло Грушевський.
У фонді бібліотеки ПДМУ є два примірники третього видання книги Володимира Антоновича «Про козацькі часи на Україні». Ця книга – захоплююча, яскрава розповідь про славетну історію Запорозької Січі – від витоків і до «злочинного зруйнування її російським царатом». Незвичайна історія створення книги: професор Київського університету В. Б. Антонович потай від влади викладав студентам протягом 1895/96 навчального року історію козаччини. Зачаровані слухачі детально законспектували блискучі лекції історика, і згодом, рукопис, відредагований О. Кониським, вийшов друком подалі від «злого ока» російської цензури – у Чернівцях (1897р.) та в Коломиї (1912р.). Третє видання надруковано видавництвом художньої літератури «Дніпро» у 1991 році. Great Man of the Ukrainian Historical School
In January, 190 years have passed since the birth of Volodymyr Bonifatiyovych Antonovych – a physician and prominent Ukrainian historian, archaeologist, ethnographer, archegrapher, and ideologist of the national liberation movement of the 60s-70s of the 19th century; a Polish nobleman who "renounced his circle and devoted his life to return to the people, once abandoned by his ancestors." The most distinguished disciple of Volodymyr Antonovych was Mykhailo Hrushevsky.
In the library fund of PSMU, there are two copies of the third edition of Volodymyr Antonovych's book "About the Cossack Times in Ukraine." This book is a captivating, vivid narrative about the glorious history of the Zaporizhian Sich – from its origins to the "criminal destruction by the russian tsarist regime." The unusual history of the book's creation: Professor V.B. Antonovych, secretly from the authorities, taught the history of the Cossacks to students during the 1895/96 academic year. Enchanted listeners meticulously summarized the brilliant lectures of the historian, and later, the manuscript, edited by O. Konyskyi, was published far from the "evil eye" of russian censorship – in Chernivtsi (1897) and Kolomyia (1912). The third edition was printed by the "Dnipro" publishing house in 1991.
