Background

Vitalii Kostenko is a researcher in the field of molecular pathophysiology. His research has elucidated the role of transcription factors in the mechanisms underlying civilization-related diseases and trauma (including cranial and maxillofacial injuries), as well as the molecular and metabolic effects of environmental pollutants in Ukraine (such as nitrates, fluorides, petroleum products, etc.), disruptions of circadian and dietary patterns, and their contribution to the pathogenesis of systemic inflammation, metabolic syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer disease, and dental disorders. H-index: 10 in Scopus, 21 in Google Scholar. Under the direct supervision of Professor V.O. Kostenko, one doctoral dissertation and 19 PhD theses have been completed and defended, along with 8 dissertations for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in specialty 222 – Medicine. His scientific output includes >600 publications, 8 technologies, and 16 sectoral innovations in the healthcare system. He holds 33 patents of Ukraine for inventions and utility models. He is a co-author of three textbooks on pathophysiology, including two in English ("Pathophysiology" and "General and Clinical Pathophysiology"), which have been reprinted multiple times, and thirty-three educational manuals, three of which were published abroad.
