Background
Yuliia Lysanets is an Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages with Latin and Medical Terminology, Poltava State Medical University (Ukraine). She received her Ph.D. from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) in 2013.
Since 2011, Lysanets has been performing in various capacities at Poltava State Medical University, encompassing academia, project management, and international collaboration. She teaches English for Academic Purposes and Advanced English to PhD students and English for Specific Purposes to undergraduate medical and dental students. Her expertise also includes curriculum design and development of teaching materials. In addition, Lysanets manages Erasmus+ projects at her home institution, organizes and moderates annual international conferences at her department, and represents PSMU at global networking events.
Her record of scholarship includes the Research Fellowship for Young Scientists, granted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2016-2018), Erasmus+ mobility for staff training at Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France (2017), participation in Erasmus+ International Staff Week at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2019), Erasmus+ mobility for teaching English for Specific Purposes at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2019), Erasmus+ mobility for staff training at the University of La Rioja, Logroño, Spain (2022), and Fernandes Fellowship at the University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom (2022).
In 2024-2025, she was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD, USA), where she conducted a research project entitled “The Features of U.S. Academic English: Comprehensive Guidelines for Ukrainian Healthcare Students and Researchers.” The outcomes of the project served as the foundation for the development of a specialized textbook.
