У межах впровадження в Україні програми ВООЗ із подолання прогалини у сфері психічного здоров’я співробітники кафедри пропедевтики внутрішньої медицини ПДМУ – завідувач кафедри, професор Юрій Казаков та професор кафедри Наталія Чекаліна – пройшли тренінг із клінічного ведення психічних розладів для працівників первинної медичної допомоги (mhGAP, частина І), що відбувся у Львові 12–15 травня 2026 року.
mhGAP – глобальна ініціатива, метою якої є підвищення доступності базової медичної допомоги при психічних і неврологічних розладах шляхом навчання сімейних лікарів та інших медичних працівників, які не мають профільної освіти у сфері психічного здоров’я. Програма також активно впроваджується у медичних університетах, зокрема у ПДМУ.
У всьому світі існує значний дефіцит лікарів-психіатрів і психотерапевтів, особливо в країнах із низьким та середнім рівнем доходу. Водночас попит на послуги з ментального здоров’я є надзвичайно високим, особливо в умовах хронічного стресу, сучасного темпу життя, а в Україні – насамперед через війну.
Завданням викладачів університету після проходження всіх частин тренінгу є навчати майбутніх лікарів, насамперед первинної ланки охорони здоров’я, розпізнавати базові ознаки психічних розладів, надавати першу допомогу, проводити психосоціальні втручання та своєчасно скеровувати пацієнтів до вузьких спеціалістів.
Переважна частина викладацького складу кафедри пропедевтики внутрішньої медицини долучилася до навчання за програмою mhGAP і вже з початку поточного навчального року викладачі передають свої знання та досвід цього напряму в межах реалізації ОПП «Медицина».

Focus on Mental Health: mhGAP Training for PSMU Faculty
As part of the implementation in Ukraine of the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Programme, staff of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine at Poltava State Medical University — Head of the Department, Professor Yurii Kazakov, and Professor Nataliia Chekalina — completed a training course on the clinical management of mental, neurological, and substance use disorders for primary healthcare workers (mhGAP, Part I), held in Lviv from May 12 to 15, 2026.
mhGAP is a global initiative aimed at increasing access to basic care for mental and neurological disorders by training family doctors and other healthcare professionals who do not have specialized education in mental health. The program is also being actively implemented in medical universities, including PSMU.
Worldwide, there is a significant shortage of psychiatrists and psychotherapists, especially in low- and middle-income countries. At the same time, the demand for mental health services is extremely high, particularly under conditions of chronic stress, the modern pace of life, and in Ukraine — primarily due to the ongoing war.
The goal of university faculty after completing all parts of the training is to educate future physicians, primarily in primary healthcare, to recognize basic signs of mental disorders, provide first aid, carry out psychosocial interventions, and timely refer patients to specialized care.
Most of the teaching staff of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine participated in the mhGAP training, and since the beginning of the current academic year, they have been integrating this knowledge and experience into the implementation of the “Medicine” educational program at Poltava State Medical University.
