16 травня 2026 року у спортивному містечку Полтавського державного медичного університету відбувся турнір з мініфутболу на Кубок ректора Вячеслава Ждана. У змаганнях взяли участь команди працівників закладів охорони здоров’я Полтавщини та збірні ПДМУ.
На полі зустрілися чотири команди: КП «Обласний заклад з надання психіатричної допомоги Полтавської обласної ради», Полтавська обласна клінічна лікарня імені М. В. Скліфосовського, команда викладачів Полтавського державного медичного університету та команда здобувачів вищої освіти ПДМУ.
Перемогу в турнірі здобула команда викладачів ПДМУ.
ІІ місце посіла команда обласного закладу з надання психіатричної допомоги, ІІІ – команда студентів ПДМУ.
Захід розпочався з підняття Державного Прапора України та виконання Гімну.
Начальник управління у справах спорту та фізичної культури Полтавської міської ради Ігор Кислов наголосив, що футбол у наш час – це більше, ніж гра: «Футбол – це про єдність, витримку і силу духу. Дякуємо Збройним силам України за можливість проводити такі заходи та збиратися разом», – зазначив він.
Проректор з науково-педагогічної та виховної роботи ПДМУ Валерій Похилько підкреслив важливість таких заходів для згуртування університетської спільноти.
Проректор з навчальної роботи Давид Аветіков додав, що спорт і медицина мають спільні цінності: «І в медицині, і в спорті потрібні дисципліна, витримка, взаємоповага та згуртованість. Фраза «один у полі не воїн» однаково актуальна і в операційній, і на футбольному полі. Саме командна робота приводить до перемоги».
Головний приз турніру – Кубок ректора ПДМУ – отримала команда викладачів. Усі учасники були відзначені кубками та дипломами.
Гравець команди-переможця, декан медичного факультету №2 Валерій Жамардій, поділився враженнями: «Усі команди показали хороший рівень гри, тому матчі були напруженими. Впевнений, що нашу перемогу визначили згуртованість і взаємна підтримка на полі».
Змагання відбулися за підтримки ректора ПДМУ Вячеслава Ждана та Полтавської обласної організації профспілки працівників охорони здоров’я України, яку представляла виконувачка обов’язків голови організації Тетяна Гапон.

Rector’s Cup at PSMU: Faculty Team Wins Mini-Football Tournament
On May 16, 2026, a mini-football tournament for the Cup of Rector Viacheslav Zhdan was held at the sports complex of Poltava State Medical University. The competition brought together teams of healthcare institutions from the Poltava region and PSMU representative teams.
Four teams competed on the field: the Municipal Enterprise “Regional Institution for Psychiatric Care of the Poltava Regional Council,” M. V. Sklifosovskyi Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital, the PSMU faculty team, and the PSMU student team.
The tournament was won by the PSMU faculty team.
Second place was taken by the team of the regional psychiatric care institution, while the PSMU student team finished third.
The event began with the raising of the National Flag of Ukraine and the performance of the National Anthem.
Ihor Kyslov, Head of the Department for Sports and Physical Culture of the Poltava City Council, emphasized that football today is more than just a game: “Football is about unity, endurance, and strength of spirit. We are grateful to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to hold such events and come together,” he noted.
Valerii Pokhylko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Extracurricular Activities of PSMU, highlighted the importance of such events for strengthening the university community.
Davyd Avetikov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, added that sport and medicine share common values: “Both medicine and sport require discipline, endurance, mutual respect, and teamwork. The phrase ‘one man alone is not a warrior’ is equally relevant in the operating room and on the football field. It is teamwork that leads to victory.”
The main prize of the tournament — the Rector’s Cup of PSMU — was awarded to the faculty team. All participants received cups and diplomas.
Valerii Zhamardii, Dean of Medical Faculty No. 2 and a player of the winning team, shared his impressions: “All teams demonstrated a good level of play, so the matches were intense. I believe our victory was determined by unity and mutual support on the field.”
The competition was held with the support of PSMU Rector Viacheslav Zhdan and the Poltava Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of Ukraine, represented by Tetiana Hapon, Acting Chair.
