31 серпня 2026 року у Полтавському державному медичному університеті відбулися урочистості з нагоди посвяти першокурсників у студенти «Єдина Україна». Цей день об’єднав першокурсників, їхніх батьків, викладачів, університетську спільноту та гостей, які прийшли привітати нове покоління майбутніх медиків.
Посвята в студенти – важлива традиція університетського життя, що знаменує новий етап для майбутніх медиків – навчання, професійне становлення та усвідомлення відповідальності за обрану професію.
Святкову програму відкрила хореографічна композиція «Привітальна» у виконанні народного аматорського ансамблю «Юність» ПДМУ.
Присутні Хвилиною мовчання вшанували пам’ять тих, хто віддав своє життя за Україну – військових, медиків, волонтерів і цивільних, які загинули від рук російського агресора.
Урочистості відкрив ректор ПДМУ, професор Вячеслав Ждан:
«Шановні першокурсники, викладачі, батьки! Сьогодні хвилююча мить для всіх нас. Навчання має бути непростим, адже професія медика пов’язана з багатьма випробуваннями. Роки в університеті – це не лише опанування знань і практичних навичок, а й час, коли потрібно максимально засвоїти все те, що знадобиться вам упродовж усього професійного життя. І найголовніше – ви зрозумієте, що таке медик, медицина і що таке людина. Бажаю вам успіхів і наснаги, впевнений, що ми гідно пройдемо цей шлях разом».
До першокурсників звернувся і перший заступник голови Полтавської обласної ради Олександр Лемешко:
«Дорогі першокурсники, ви обрали найкращий заклад і найкращу професію. У ваших руках – майбутнє не лише медицини, а й України. Сьогодні до цієї професії дуже багато вимог і викликів, адже від медиків залежить життя поранених захисників, дітей і багатьох інших людей. Тому ми покладаємо на вас великі сподівання. Бажаю вам успішного навчання під мирним українським небом!».
Напутні слова першокурсникам адресував митрополит Полтавський і Кременчуцький Федір:
«Я вітаю вас із прекрасною мандрівкою навчання в університеті. Медик – це той, хто служить людям. Пам’ятайте про відповідальність, адже міра цієї відповідальності – життя наших захисників і захисниць. Плекайте у своєму серці людяність – це найважливіше. Бажаю вам служити людям, пам’ятати про відповідальність і будувати нашу країну. У нас усе вийде!».
Музичні та хореографічні композиції у виконанні творчих колективів ПДМУ – народного аматорського ансамблю бально-спортивного танцю «Орхідея» та народного аматорського ансамблю «Мальви» додали урочистостям особливої теплоти й святкового настрою.
Першокурсники урочисто прочитали Клятву студента ПДМУ, прослухали Гімн Університету та отримали символічні атрибути студентства – Ключ знань і Студентський квиток. Цьогорічний набір є особливим для університету, адже ПДМУ відзначає 105-річчя від дня заснування. Для тих, хто розпочинає навчання у ювілейний рік, це можливість стати частиною багаторічної історії університету, гідно продовжувати його традиції, примножувати здобутки попередніх поколінь і своїми професійними успіхами творити його майбутнє.
Попереду – навчання, нові відкриття та важливі рішення. В університеті вони здобуватимуть знання й досвід, формуватимуть професійні цінності та готуватимуться до викликів, які сьогодні постають перед українською медициною. І найважливішим побажанням для нового покоління студентів, як і для всіх українців, залишається одне – мирне небо над Україною.

The Beginning of a Great Journey: PSMU Welcomes Its First-Year Students
On 31 August 2026, Poltava State Medical University held a solemn ceremony to welcome its first-year students into the university community under the theme “United Ukraine.” The event brought together first-year students, their parents, academic staff, members of the university community, and guests who came to welcome a new generation of future healthcare professionals.
The student initiation ceremony is an important tradition of university life, marking the beginning of a new stage for future medical professionals – a period of study, professional development, and an increasing awareness of the responsibility that comes with their chosen profession.
The festive program opened with the choreographic composition “Welcome”, performed by PSMU’s folk amateur ensemble “Yunist.”
Those present observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of all those who gave their lives for Ukraine – military personnel, healthcare workers, volunteers, and civilians who were killed by russian aggression.
The ceremony was officially opened by Professor Viacheslav Zhdan, Rector of PSMU:
“Dear first-year students, faculty members, and parents! Today is an emotional moment for all of us. Your studies will not be easy, because the medical profession is associated with many challenges. Your years at university will not only be about acquiring knowledge and practical skills, but also about making the most of everything that you will need throughout your professional lives. And most importantly, you will come to understand what it means to be a healthcare professional, what medicine is, and what it means to be human. I wish you success and inspiration, and I am confident that we will walk this path together with dignity.”
Oleksandr Lemeshko, First Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Council, also addressed the first-year students:
“Dear first-year students, you have chosen the best institution and the best profession. In your hands lies the future not only of medicine but also of Ukraine. Today, this profession faces many demands and challenges, as the lives of wounded defenders, children, and many other people depend on healthcare professionals. Therefore, we have great expectations of you. I wish you successful studies under peaceful Ukrainian skies!”
Metropolitan Fedir of Poltava and Kremenchuk offered words of guidance to the first-year students:
“I congratulate you on this wonderful journey of learning at university. A healthcare professional is someone who serves people. Remember your responsibility, because the measure of this responsibility is the lives of our defenders. Nurture humanity in your hearts – this is the most important thing. I wish you to serve people, remember your responsibility, and help build our country. We will succeed!”
Musical and choreographic performances by PSMU’s creative ensembles – the folk amateur ballroom and sports dance ensemble “Orkhideia” and the folk amateur ensemble “Malvy” – added warmth and a special festive atmosphere to the ceremony.
The first-year students solemnly recited the PSMU Student Oath, listened to the University Anthem, and received symbolic attributes of student life – the Key of Knowledge and their Student ID Cards.
This year’s intake is particularly special for the University, as PSMU is celebrating its 105th anniversary. For those beginning their studies during this jubilee year, it is an opportunity to become part of the University’s long-standing history, honor and continue its traditions, build on the achievements of previous generations, and shape its future through their professional accomplishments.
Ahead of them are years of study, new discoveries, and important decisions. At the University, they will gain knowledge and experience, develop professional values, and prepare for the challenges facing Ukrainian medicine today.
And the most important wish for this new generation of students – as for all Ukrainians – remains the same: peaceful skies over Ukraine.
