18 квітня у світі відзначають Міжнародний день пам’яток і визначних місць – дату, що покликана нагадати про цінність культурної спадщини та необхідність її збереження. Свято було започатковане у 1983 році Асамблеєю Міжнародної ради з питань охорони пам’яток і визначних місць (ICOMOS) при ЮНЕСКО.
З цієї нагоди на кафедрі філософії та суспільних наук ПДМУ здобувачі вищої освіти освітньо-професійних програм «Медицина», «Стоматологія» та «Фізична терапія, ерготерапія» переглянули документальний фільм «Весільний спадок», що репрезентує яскраві та різноманітні весільні традиції восьми областей України.
Проєкт розкриває глибину та багатство українських традицій, акцентуючи увагу на одному з ключових етапів людського життя – весіллі. Адже у житті кожної людини визначальними є три події: народження, одруження та смерть. Саме весільні обряди у стрічці постають як важлива складова національної культури, що забезпечує зв’язок поколінь і сприяє збереженню духовних цінностей народу.
Під час перегляду учасники мали змогу не лише ознайомитися з автентичними звичаями, а й замислитися над роллю культурної спадщини у сучасному житті. Адже саме через такі традиції формується національна ідентичність та передається історична пам’ять.
Захід такого формату сприяє популяризації культурної спадщини, вихованню поваги до історії та усвідомленню важливості збереження надбань минулого для майбутніх поколінь.

A Journey into the World of Ukrainian Traditions: PSMU Marks the International Day for Monuments and Sites
On April 18, the world celebrates the International Day for Monuments and Sites—a date intended to highlight the value of cultural heritage and the need for its preservation. The holiday was established in 1983 by the Assembly of the International Council on Monuments and Sites under the auspices of UNESCO.
On this occasion, at the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Poltava State Medical University, students enrolled in the educational programs “Medicine,” “Dentistry,” and “Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy” watched the documentary Wedding Heritage, which showcases the rich and diverse wedding traditions of eight regions of Ukraine.
The project reveals the depth and richness of Ukrainian traditions, focusing on one of the key milestones in human life—marriage. After all, three major events define a person’s life: birth, marriage, and death. In the film, wedding rituals are presented as an essential component of national culture that ensures continuity between generations and helps preserve the spiritual values of the people.
During the screening, participants had the opportunity not only to explore authentic customs but also to reflect on the role of cultural heritage in modern life. It is through such traditions that national identity is shaped and historical memory is passed on.
Events of this kind contribute to the promotion of cultural heritage, foster respect for history, and raise awareness of the importance of preserving the achievements of the past for future generations.
