26 травня 2026 року на запрошення кафедри філософії та суспільних наук ПДМУ для здобувачів вищої освіти І курсу ОПП «Медицина» відбулася актуальна гостьова лекція. Перед студентами з лекцією «Симон Петлюра – військовий, державний, політичний діяч: погляд сьогодення» виступила Лариса Шаповал – кандидат історичних наук, доцент кафедри історії України Полтавського національного педагогічного університету ім. В. Г. Короленка. Лекцію приурочено до 100-річчя вшанування пам’яті видатного полтавця.
Перед початком лекції зі вступним словом до присутніх звернувся проректор з науково-педагогічної та виховної роботи ПДМУ, професор Валерій Похилько. Він наголосив, що осмислення історичного досвіду та формування громадянської свідомості є невід’ємною складовою становлення майбутніх медичних фахівців.
Увічнення пам’яті видатних українців, які виборювали свободу, незалежність і соборність України – це фундамент нашої національної ідентичності. Історія Симона Петлюри та його соратників доводить тяглість наших державотворчих традицій. Сьогодні ці уроки минулого звучать особливо гостро, нагадуючи кожному з нас про справжню ціну свободи та відповідальність за майбутнє держави. Нині постать Симона Петлюри – це не лише сторінка підручника з історії, а й живий символ сучасної української армії. Найкращим підтвердженням цього є мужність воїнів 152-ї окремої єгерської бригади, яка з гордістю носить ім’я Головного Отамана. Подвиг сучасних нащадків петлюрівців проявляється у надзвичайно важких оборонних боях на Покровському та Курахівському напрямках, а також під час Курської операції. Стримуючи переважаючі сили ворога, бійці бригади засвідчили тяглість військових традицій УНР.
Кафедра філософії та суспільних наук ПДМУ щиро дякує лекторці за глибоку, змістовну розмову, а студентам – за активну участь, живий інтерес та небайдужість!

Symon Petliura as a Symbol of Ukrainian Statehood: Guest Lecture Held at PSMU
On May 26, 2026, at the invitation of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of PSMU, a relevant guest lecture was delivered for first-year students of the “Medicine” educational program. The lecture, entitled “Symon Petliura – Military, State, and Political Figure: A Contemporary Perspective,” was presented by Associate Professor Larysa Shapoval, PhD in Historical Sciences, the Department of History of Ukraine at Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University. The lecture was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of honoring the memory of the outstanding native of Poltava.
Before the lecture began, Professor Valerii Pokhylko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Extracurricular Activities of PSMU, addressed the audience with opening remarks. He emphasized that understanding historical experience and fostering civic consciousness are integral components in the formation of future medical professionals.
Preserving the memory of outstanding Ukrainians who fought for the freedom, independence, and unity of Ukraine is the foundation of our national identity. The story of Symon Petliura and his associates demonstrates the continuity of Ukraine’s state-building traditions. Today, these lessons from the past resonate with particular urgency, reminding each of us of the true price of freedom and our responsibility for the future of the state.
Today, the figure of Symon Petliura is not merely a page in a history textbook, but also a living symbol of the modern Ukrainian army. The courage of the 152nd Separate Jaeger Brigade, which proudly bears the name of the Chief Otaman, serves as the clearest confirmation of this. The heroism of the modern descendants of the Petliurites is evident in the extremely difficult defensive battles in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, as well as during the Kursk operation. By holding back superior enemy forces, the brigade’s soldiers demonstrated the continuity of the military traditions of the Ukrainian People’s Republic.
The Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of PSMU sincerely thanks the lecturer for the profound and meaningful discussion, and the students for their active participation, genuine interest, and engagement.
