7 квітня 2026 року на базі хірургічного відділення КП «Дитяча міська клінічна лікарня Полтавської міської ради» відбувся черговий майстер-клас у межах циклу демонстраційних оперативних втручань, організованого кафедрою хірургії №2 Полтавського державного медичного університету.
Демонстраційне оперативне втручання виконав Ігор Ксьонз – доктор медичних наук, професор кафедри хірургії №2 ПДМУ, проректор з науково-педагогічної та лікувальної роботи університету.
Клінічний випадок
Пацієнт – дитина віком 2 роки 6 місяців. Діагноз: лівобічна деструктивна полісегментарна пневмонія, абсцес лівої легені, емпієма плеври.
З урахуванням тяжкості стану, поширеність гнійно-деструктивного процесу та вік пацієнта, було прийнято рішення про виконання оперативного втручання в обсязі: відеоасистована торакотомія, декортикація легені, пневмоліз, санація та дренування плевральної порожнини.

Навчальна складова
Операція супроводжувалася детальним коментарем професора Ігоря Ксьонза з поясненням кожного етапу втручання та обґрунтуванням хірургічної тактики, та особливостей оперативної техніки у дітей раннього віку. Окрему увагу було приділено специфіці хірургічного лікування гнійно-деструктивних захворювань легень та плеври в педіатричній практиці.
У заході взяли участь лікарі-хірурги дитячої клінічної лікарні та співробітники кафедри хірургії №2 ПДМУ.
Цикл майстер-класів
Нагадаємо, що 30 березня 2026 року відбувся перший майстер-клас циклу за участі професора Гафта К. Л., який виконав дві демонстраційні торакоскопічні операції з приводу бульозної хвороби легень у дорослих пацієнтів на базі Центру торако-абдомінальної хірургії ПОКЛ ім. М. В. Скліфосовського.
Проведення циклу демонстраційних операцій на різних клінічних базах – як у дорослій, так і в дитячій хірургії – засвідчує системний підхід кафедри хірургії №2 ПДМУ до підвищення кваліфікації хірургів Полтавщини та впровадження сучасних хірургічних технологій у клінічну практику регіону.

Thoracic Surgery Masterclass Series Continues: Demonstration Operation Performed at Children’s Hospital
On April 7, 2026, another masterclass within the series of demonstration surgical procedures organized by the Department of Surgery No. 2 of Poltava State Medical University took place at the Surgery Unit of the Municipal Enterprise “Children’s City Clinical Hospital of the Poltava City Council.”
The demonstration surgery was performed by Prof. Ihor Ksonz, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Surgery No. 2 at PSMU, and Vice-Rector for Research, Academic and Clinical Affairs.
Clinical Case
The patient was a child aged 2 years and 6 months. Diagnosis: left-sided destructive polysegmental pneumonia, abscess of the left lung, and pleural empyema.
Given the severity of the condition, the extent of the purulent-destructive process, and the patient’s young age, it was decided to perform surgery consisting of: video-assisted thoracotomy, lung decortication, pneumolysis, sanitation, and drainage of the pleural cavity.

Educational Component
The surgery was accompanied by a detailed commentary from Professor Ihor Ksonz, explaining each stage of the procedure, the rationale for the chosen surgical tactics, and the specific features of surgical techniques in young children. Special attention was given to the specifics of surgical treatment of purulent-destructive diseases of the lungs and pleura in pediatric practice.
The event was attended by pediatric surgeons of the clinical hospital as well as staff members of the Department of Surgery No. 2 of PSMU.
Masterclass Series
It should be recalled that on March 30, 2026, the first masterclass of the series took place with the participation of Professor K. L. Gaft, who performed two demonstration thoracoscopic surgeries for bullous lung disease in adult patients at the Center of Thoracoabdominal Surgery of M.V. Sklifosovskyi Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital.
The organization of a series of demonstration surgeries at different clinical bases—both in adult and pediatric surgery—demonstrates the systematic approach of the Department of Surgery No. 2 of PSMU to improving the qualifications of surgeons in the Poltava region and implementing modern surgical technologies into regional clinical practice.
