1 грудня 2025 року в центральному холі ПДМУ відбулася інформаційно-профілактична акція до Всесвітнього дня боротьби зі СНІДом. Протягом дня всі охочі могли пройти анонімне експрес-тестування на ВІЛ, отримати консультації представників ПДМУ та волонтерів і отримати інформаційні матеріали та засоби профілактики.
Тестування проводили представники КП «Полтавський обласний клінічний протитуберкульозний диспансер», а консультаційну підтримку забезпечували представники ПДМУ та волонтери БО «Світло надії».
Завідувачка кафедри інфекційних хвороб з епідеміологією ПДМУ, професор Тетяна Коваль наголосила на важливості усвідомленої профілактики:
«Цей день присвячений боротьбі з ВІЛ-інфекцією та підтримці пацієнтів. Медицина значно просунулась: існує ефективне лікування, що дозволяє людям жити повноцінно. Тестування триває близько 15 хвилин. Воно дозволяє дізнатися свій статус та отримати консультацію щодо безпечної поведінки й профілактики. Найпоширенішими шляхами інфікування залишаються незахищені сексуальні контакти та ін’єкційне введення наркотиків із використанням спільних голок. А от передача інфекції від матері до дитини трапляється вкрай рідко завдяки сучасному лікуванню».
Соціальна працівниця БО «Світло надії» Марія Семиганівська додала:
«Наші тестування безкоштовні й анонімні. Ми щоденно співпрацюємо та спілкуємося з людьми, які живуть із ВІЛ, і це важливо розуміти майбутнім медикам. Соціальні працівники допомагають встановити зв’язок між пацієнтом і системою охорони здоров’я, підтримують у складних ситуаціях. Важливо пам’ятати, що лікування ВІЛ безкоштовне і доступне кожному, хто його потребує».
Волонтери загону «Almino» Студентського парламенту ПДМУ підготували інтерактивний макет із червоною стрічкою — символом підтримки та солідарності з людьми, які живуть з ВІЛ. Голова загону Ярослав Катриченко зазначив: «Наш інтерактив покликаний показати, що ці люди не самі. Це символ єдності та підтримки, яку може висловити кожен».
Першими до акції долучилися студенти кафедри інфекційних хвороб з епідеміологією ПДМУ, показавши приклад небайдужості та професійної відповідальності.
Організатори заходу — відділ управління освітньо-виховною та гуманітарною роботою з молоддю ПДМУ, кафедра інфекційних хвороб з епідеміологією, КП «Полтавський обласний клінічний протитуберкульозний диспансер», БО «Світло надії» та волонтерський загін «Almino».
Багато представників ПДМУ долучилися до заходу, що свідчить про активну громадянську позицію університету та небайдужість його спільноти до проблем здоров’я та підтримки людей, які живуть із ВІЛ.

PSMU Held an Awareness Event for World AIDS Day
On December 1, 2025, an informational and preventive event dedicated to World AIDS Day was held in the main hall of PSMU. Throughout the day, everyone interested could undergo anonymous rapid HIV testing, receive consultations from PSMU representatives and volunteers, and obtain informational materials and preventive supplies.
Testing was conducted by specialists of the Poltava Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Dispensary, while consultation support was provided by PSMU representatives and volunteers from the Light of Hope charity organization.
Professor Tetiana Koval, Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology at PSMU, emphasized the importance of conscious prevention:
“This day is dedicated to combating HIV infection and supporting patients. Medicine has advanced significantly: effective treatment now allows people to live full lives. Testing takes about 15 minutes. It helps individuals learn their HIV status and receive counseling on safe behavior and prevention. The most common routes of transmission remain unprotected sexual contact and injection drug use with shared needles. Meanwhile, mother-to-child transmission occurs very rarely thanks to modern treatment.”
Mariia Semyhanivska, the social worker of the Light of Hope charity organization, added:
“Our testing is free and anonymous. We work and communicate daily with people living with HIV, and it is important for future medical professionals to understand this. Social workers help establish a link between patients and the healthcare system and provide support in difficult situations. It is important to remember that HIV treatment is free and accessible to everyone who needs it.”
Volunteers of the Almino student volunteer unit of the PSMU Student Parliament prepared an interactive installation featuring a red ribbon — a symbol of solidarity and support for people living with HIV. The head of the unit, Yaroslav Katrychenko, noted:
“Our interactive installation is meant to show that these people are not alone. This symbol reflects unity and the support that anyone can express.”
Students of the Department of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology were the first to join the event, demonstrating an example of empathy and professional responsibility.
The organizers of the event were: the Department for Educational, Social and Humanitarian Work with Youth at PSMU, the Department of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology, the Poltava Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Dispensary, the Light of Hope charity organization, and the Almino volunteer unit
Many members of the PSMU community took part in the event, demonstrating the university’s active civic stance and its commitment to supporting public health and people living with HIV.
