23 травня в Україні відзначають День Героїв – день пам’яті, вдячності та шани всім, хто в різні історичні періоди боровся за свободу, незалежність і державність України.
З нагоди пам’ятної дати 25 травня 2026 року у народному музеї історії Полтавського державного медичного університету відбувся інформаційно-просвітницький патріотичний захід, організований відділом управління освітньо-виховної та гуманітарної роботи з молоддю. У заході взяли участь проректор з науково-педагогічної та виховної роботи, професор Валерій Похилько, директорка музею історії ПДМУ Таміла Дашевська, представники Студентського парламенту, адміністрації медичного факультету №2, працівники бібліотеки університету, культурно-мистецького відділу, а також голова ради ветеранів ПДМУ, учасник бойових дій Віктор Лебедєв.
Під час зустрічі учасники дізналися про історію Дня Героїв, історичні передумови його виникнення та значення для сучасної України. Присутні хвилиною мовчання вшанували пам’ять загиблих Героїв, усіх Захисників і Захисниць України, а також окремо згадали студентів, викладачів і працівників університету, які стали на захист держави під час російсько-української війни та віддали своє життя за Україну. Під час заходу також прозвучали імена студентів, викладачів і працівників ПДМУ, які нині захищають Україну у лавах ЗСУ.
Окрему увагу директорка музею історії ПДМУ Таміла Дашевська приділила увагу постаті Симона Петлюри – Головного Отамана військ Української Народної Республіки. Учасникам заходу нагадали, що цьогоріч минає 100 років з дня його загибелі. Симон Петлюра був одним із провідників українського визвольного руху ХХ століття, послідовним борцем за українську державність та незалежність. У виступі було висвітлено окремі сторінки його політичної та державотворчої діяльності, а також значення його постаті для формування української національної ідеї. Саме 25 травня 1926 року Симона Петлюру було вбито в Парижі.
Захід об’єднав учасників навколо осмислення історії Дня Героїв та вшанування пам’яті українських Захисників та Захисниць, а також виконав важливу виховну функцію у формуванні професійної свідомості майбутніх медиків ПДМУ.

Patriotic Event Dedicated to Ukraine’s Heroes Day Was Held At PSMU
On May 23, Ukraine celebrates Heroes’ Day — a day of remembrance, gratitude, and honor for all those who, throughout different historical periods, fought for the freedom, independence, and statehood of Ukraine.
On the occasion of this commemorative date, on May 25, 2026, an informational and educational patriotic event was held at the People’s Museum of History of Poltava State Medical University. The event was organized by the Department for Educational, Upbringing, and Humanitarian Work with Youth. Among the participants were Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Extracurricular Activities, Professor Valerii Pokhylko; Director of the PSMU History Museum Tamila Dashevska; representatives of the Student Parliament; the administration of the Faculty of Medicine No. 2; staff members of the university library and cultural and arts department; as well as the Head of the PSMU Veterans Council and combat veteran Viktor Lebediev.
During the meeting, participants learned about the history of Heroes’ Day, the historical background of its establishment, and its significance for contemporary Ukraine. Those present honored the memory of fallen Heroes, all Defenders of Ukraine, with a moment of silence. Special tribute was also paid to students, teachers, and university staff who defended the country during the russian-Ukrainian war and gave their lives for Ukraine. During the event, the names of PSMU students, teachers, and employees currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also announced.
Special attention was devoted by the Director of the PSMU History Museum, Tamila Dashevska, to the figure of Symon Petliura, the Chief Otaman of the troops of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. Participants were reminded that this year marks the 100th anniversary of his death. Symon Petliurawas one of the leaders of the Ukrainian national liberation movement of the twentieth century and a consistent advocate of Ukrainian statehood and independence. The presentation highlighted selected aspects of his political and state-building activities, as well as the significance of his legacy in shaping the Ukrainian national idea. It was on May 25, 1926, that Symon Petliura was assassinated in Paris.
The event united participants around reflecting on the history of Heroes’ Day and honoring the memory of Ukrainian Defenders, while also fulfilling an important educational role in shaping the professional consciousness of future PSMU medical professionals.
