Щорічно 9 та 10 березня Україна відзначає Шевченківські дні: дати народження і смерті поета, який став головним національним символом українців.
Політичні системи й ідеології, що прагнули віднести Т.Г. Шевченка до свого табору, зникають у плині часу. А він залишався і залишається над ними. Досвід XIX–XX століть свідчить, що поетові Шевченкові нічого не загрожує, є загроза лише для тих, «що дивляться – і не бачать, слухають – і не чують».

Близько 20% матеріалу цього видання – рядки, яких читач не знайде в жодному іншому «Кобзарі»: від окремих слів та словосполук до цілих сторінок тексту. Книжку надруковано на високоякісному шведському тонованому офсеті, обкладинку виготовлено з елітного італійського палітурного матеріалу, тиснення обкладинки й бронзове фарбування обрізу виконано вручну.

“We Will Always Walk Toward Taras”: Shevchenko Days at the PSMU Library
Every year on March 9 and 10, Ukraine marks the Shevchenko Days — the birth and death anniversaries of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, a poet who has become one of the central national symbols of the Ukrainian people.
Political systems and ideologies that once tried to claim Shevchenko for their own eventually fade with time. Yet he has remained — and continues to remain — above them all. The experience of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries shows that nothing threatens the poet Shevchenko; the only danger is for those “who look — and do not see, who listen — and do not hear.”
Read Shevchenko! His poetry is one of the most powerful expressions of Ukrainian identity and of our aspiration for the ideals of beauty, truth, peace, and humanism. In every generation the great poet begins a new life, and each reader discovers him anew.
An information exhibition titled “We Will Always Walk Toward Taras…” has been organized in the central reading hall of the university library of Poltava State Medical University (PSMU). Among the featured publications are:

The exhibition also presents a unique anniversary edition of Kobzar (Kharkiv: “SHKOLA” Publishing House, 2014, 576 pages), dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the poet’s birth. Nearly 20% of the material in this edition contains lines that readers will not find in any other version of Kobzar — ranging from individual words and phrases to entire pages of text.
The book is printed on high-quality Swedish tinted offset paper; the cover is made from premium Italian binding material, and the cover embossing as well as the bronze coloring of the page edges were done by hand.
