На кафедрі українознавства та гуманітарної підготовки ПДМУ з нагоди 212-ї річниці Тараса Шевченка 9 березня проведено цикл креативних заходів на вшанування Великого Кобзаря. На інтерактивній лекції та бесідах зі здобувачами освіти стоматологічного факультету замість звичних віршів – глибокий розбір особистості генія. Говорили про таємниці Тараса: яким він був поза підручниками? Шевченко без цензури: розкрили факти, які десятиліттями замовчувала пропаганда, намагаючись зробити з нього лише «селянського поета». Його гастрономічні вподобання, почуття гумору, світські знайомства і манера одягатися; цікаві факти родоводу, пошанування українського генія у світі… Сучасні реалії війни з імперією: паралелі між 1840 і 2026 роками вражають. Шевченко – це не минуле, це наш актуальний культурний бронежилет. Його слова про «вражую злую кров» сьогодні звучать як пряма настанова для кожного медика і воїна.
Згадали про пам’ятник Тарасові Шевченку в Полтаві, якому 12 березня виповнюється 100 років. Майбутні українські лікарі переглянули підбірку цікавих видань творів Тараса Шевченка і досліджень його творчості, підготували перформанс, де поєднали класичні тексти з візуалом сучасної боротьби України. Виявилося, що Кобзар – це абсолютний драйв і незламна енергія, які вкрай потрібні нам сьогодні. Шевченко – це код нашої ідентичності, який ми продовжуємо розгадувати.
На завершення слухали стоячи «Реве та стогне Дніпр широкий» у неперевершеному виконанні хору імені Григорія Верьовки, проникаючись у єдиному пориві гордістю за рідну Україну і за її героїв.

Future Ukrainian Doctors Honor the Kobzar
At the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Humanities of Poltava State Medical University (PSMU), a series of creative events dedicated to the 212th anniversary of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko took place on March 9.
During an interactive lecture and discussions with students of the Faculty of Dentistry, the focus shifted from the usual recitation of poems to a deeper exploration of the personality of the great genius. Participants discussed the lesser-known sides of Taras Shevchenko: what he was like beyond the pages of textbooks. “Shevchenko without censorship” revealed facts that propaganda had suppressed for decades while trying to present him merely as a “peasant poet.”
Students learned about his gastronomic preferences, sense of humor, social circle, and manner of dress, as well as interesting details about his family origins and the international recognition of the Ukrainian genius. The discussion also drew striking parallels between the realities of imperial oppression in 1840 and the war Ukraine faces in 2026. Shevchenko is not the past — he is a cultural body armor for the present. His words about “enemy evil blood” sound today like a direct call to action for every medic and defender.
Participants also recalled the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Poltava, which will mark its 100th anniversary on March 12. Future Ukrainian doctors viewed a selection of notable editions of Shevchenko’s works and scholarly studies of his творчість and prepared a performance combining classical texts with visuals reflecting Ukraine’s contemporary struggle.
It became clear that the Kobzar embodies powerful energy and an unbreakable spirit that Ukraine especially needs today. Shevchenko is the code of our identity — one that we continue to decipher.
The event concluded with everyone standing while listening to “Reve ta stohne Dnipr shyrokyi” in the outstanding performance of the Hryhorii Veriovka Ukrainian National Folk Choir, united in pride for their homeland and for its heroes.
