On 20 October, the final meeting of the Regional Council of Poltava Region of the Award for Professionalism and Compassion, the Order of St. Panteleimon, for the 2025–2026 season was held in the Oval Hall of Poltava State Medical University (PSMU).

At the final meeting of the year, the Council members, led by its Chair, Mykola Lytvynenko, Director of the Kremenchuk Regional Hospital for War Veterans, reviewed the year's activities and achievements. The meeting began with the Chair's report, in which he shared his reflections on the Council's work during its tenth, anniversary year, outlined future plans, and proposed ways to improve its activities. Despite the challenging times, the initiative continues to grow and develop, becoming more effective each year, while the ranks of distinguished Poltava Region medical professionals honored with the Order continue to expand.

Valerii Pokhylko, Deputy Chair of the Regional Council, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Extracurricular Activities at Poltava State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, and former Chair of the Poltava Regional Council, also addressed the meeting.

He spoke about the journey undertaken by Ukraine's “Medical Oscar” over the past decade, explaining how an independent civic award has evolved into a new culture of public trust in the medical profession. He also reflected on how the community has weathered the most severe challenges, from the exhausting years of the COVID-19 pandemic to the unwavering resilience of the medical frontline during the full-scale war.

Today, the Order of St. Panteleimon brings together more than 300 Ukrainian recipients of the Order, including civilian and military healthcare professionals, nearly 100 international friends of Ukraine and international organizations from 23 countries, and a community with established branches in 20 countries worldwide. It is a source of strength and a space where spiritual, historical and human values take shape. We continue our work guided by human values, humanism and compassion!

During the meeting, Regional Council Chair Mykola Lytvynenko invited all Council members to share their views. They put forward proposals for the Council's activities in the upcoming season, outlined their future plans, suggested ways to further develop the Council, and discussed issues to be addressed at subsequent meetings.

The Chair proposed that Council members allocate responsibilities more carefully for the next season to ensure more thorough and effective preparation of the documentation required for award candidates participating in the competition.

Ukraine's modern healthcare sector has become an example of professionalism and moral integrity for the entire world. Our determination to move forward is rooted in faith and a shared vision in which compassion, humanity and the highest standards of professional dignity remain our core values.

Every finish line is merely the beginning of a new story. Our achievements have been consolidated, and it is time to move confidently forward!
