У стінах рідної Альма-матер знову зібралися ті, хто колись отримав тут свій перший і найважливіший професійний досвід — випускники Полтавського державного медичного університету. В останні дні вересня 2025 року відбулася особлива зустріч поколінь. Ті, хто закінчив навчання 38 і 40 років тому, повернулися до університету.

Тоді це були 110 молодих лікарів — 60 випускників 1985 року та 50 випускників 1987-го, які тільки-но ступали у доросле життя. А нині це досвідчені фахівці, що працюють у закладах охорони здоров’я по всій Україні, передають знання молодим медикам, а дехто з них продовжує викладати у стінах ПДМУ.

Модератором зустрічі став професор, завідувач кафедри внутрішньої медицини №2 Іван Катеренчук. Він працює в університеті з 1980 року і пам’ятає багатьох із присутніх ще студентами.

Теплі обійми, щирі слова, спогади про студентські роки, а також перегляд документальних фільмів про історію університету зробили цей вечір по-справжньому незабутнім. Атмосфера була особлива, водночас урочиста і дуже сімейна, адже ПДМУ вже понад століття залишається для тисяч випускників другим домом.

Ми пишаємося тим, що університет зберігає традицію наставництва і наукових шкіл. Тут працюють знані вчені, які передають досвід студентам і молодим дослідникам, формуючи нове покоління лікарів та науковців.

Сьогодні, у час жорстокої війни, ця тяглість поколінь набуває особливого значення. Україна бореться за своє майбутнє, а медики завжди на передовій цієї боротьби — рятують життя військових і цивільних, лікують поранених, допомагають долати наслідки війни. Саме завдяки спадкоємності традицій і професійності випускників ПДМУ українська медицина стоїть міцно попри всі виклики.

Такі зустрічі нагадують, що ми — одна велика родина, яка має коріння, пам’ять і майбутнє. А головне — ми разом працюємо заради життя, заради України, заради перемоги.

Where the Journey Began: PSMU Alumni Back Home

Within the walls of their Alma Mater, those who once gained their first and most important professional experience here have gathered again — the alumni of Poltava State Medical University. In the last days of September 2025, a special meeting of generations took place. Those who graduated 38 and 40 years ago returned to the university.

Back then, they were 110 young doctors — 60 graduates of 1985 and 50 graduates of 1987 — just stepping into adult life. Today, they are seasoned professionals working in healthcare institutions across Ukraine, passing on their knowledge to young doctors, and some of them continue teaching within the walls of PSMU.

The meeting was moderated by Professor Ivan Katerenchuk, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2. He has worked at the university since 1980 and remembers many of those present as students.

Warm embraces, heartfelt words, memories of student years, and screenings of documentary films about the university’s history made this evening truly unforgettable. The atmosphere was special — both solemn and deeply familial — as PSMU has remained a second home for thousands of graduates for more than a century.

We take pride in the fact that the university preserves the tradition of mentorship and scientific schools. Renowned scholars work here, passing on their expertise to students and young researchers, shaping a new generation of doctors and scientists.

Today, in a time of brutal war, this continuity of generations takes on special meaning. Ukraine is fighting for its future, and medical professionals are always at the forefront of this struggle — saving the lives of soldiers and civilians, treating the wounded, and helping overcome the consequences of war. Thanks to the legacy of traditions and the professionalism of PSMU graduates, Ukrainian medicine stands strong despite all challenges.

Such reunions remind us that we are one big family, with roots, memory, and a future. And most importantly — we work together for life, for Ukraine, for victory.
