9 березня 2026 року Україна відзначає 212-ту річницю з дня народження Тараса Шевченка. Для спільноти ПДМУ це не просто календарна дата, а привід чесно поглянути на постать Великого Кобзаря крізь призму сучасності та історичної правди.
Кафедра філософії та суспільних наук ПДМУ провела інформаційно-виховний захід для першокурсників ОПП «Медицина» та «Медсестринство».
Разом із виконувачкою обов’язків завідувача кафедри Вікторією Каюн та доцентом Наталією Зінченко студенти шукали відповіді на нетипові питання: чому імперська влада, а згодом і радянська ідеологія намагалися перетворити талановиту людину на «суворого ідола» у кожусі? Навіщо систему влаштовував образ «пророка-страдника» і як це заважало нам бачити реального Шевченка – модного, освіченого та волелюбного? У чому полягає справжній феномен Кобзаря сьогодні, коли його слова знову стають зброєю?
Центральною частиною заходу став перегляд та обговорення документального дослідження проєкту «Реальна історія» – «Як Тарас Шевченко став українським ідолом?». Це відео допомогло здобувачам освіти відкинути радянські стереотипи та побачити справжню біографію митця, сповнену боротьби, викликів і неймовірної внутрішньої сили.
Мистецтво – це дзеркало нації. І сьогодні ми вчимося бачити в цьому дзеркалі не забронзовілий пам’ятник, а живу людину, чиї ідеї свободи актуальні як ніколи.

Taras Shevchenko: From Idol to Human — Reinterpreting the Figure of the Kobzar at PSMU
On March 9, 2026, Ukraine marks the 212th anniversary of the birth of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. For the community of Poltava State Medical University (PSMU), this is not merely a date on the calendar but an opportunity to take an honest look at the figure of the Great Kobzar through the lens of modernity and historical truth.
The Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of PSMU organized an informational and educational event for first-year students of the educational programs Medicine and Nursing.
Together with Acting Head of the Department Viktoriia Kaiun and Associate Professor Nataliia Zinchenko, students explored unconventional questions: why did imperial authorities, and later Soviet ideology, attempt to transform a talented individual into a “stern idol” in a sheepskin coat? Why was the system comfortable with the image of a “prophet-martyr,” and how did this prevent us from seeing the real Shevchenko — fashionable, educated, and freedom-loving? What is the true phenomenon of the Kobzar today, when his words once again become a weapon?
The central part of the event was the viewing and discussion of the documentary research from the Real History project — “How Did Taras Shevchenko Become a Ukrainian Idol?” The video helped students move beyond Soviet stereotypes and discover the authentic biography of the artist, filled with struggle, challenges, and extraordinary inner strength.
Art is a mirror of a nation. And today we are learning to see in that mirror not a bronze monument, but a living person whose ideas of freedom are more relevant than ever.
