1 вересня 2025 року у Полтавському державному медичному університеті відбулася посвята першокурсників. На подвір’ї університету зібралися студенти, викладачі та почесні гості, щоб розпочати новий навчальний рік.
Традиційно на початку заходу хвилиною мовчання вшанували пам’ять українських воїнів і цивільних, які загинули від російської агресії.
Ректор ПДМУ, професор Вячеслав Ждан, відкриваючи урочистості, звернувся до першокурсників:
Сьогодні особливий день для нашого університету, адже ми вітаємо нове покоління. Це не просто студенти — це майбутні медики, які обрали одну з найблагородніших професій у світі. Професія лікаря — це покликання, що вимагає самовідданості, людяності та постійного вдосконалення.
Завдяки нашим Захисникам і Захисницям ми маємо унікальну можливість опановувати цю важливу справу. Пам'ятайте: ви отримаєте не лише диплом, а й довічне зобов'язання, свідчення вашої готовності до великої місії — допомагати людям. Бажаю вам сил, натхнення та успіхів на цьому відповідальному шляху!
З вітальними словами до першокурсників звернулися й почесні гості — заступник голови Полтавської обласної ради Олександр Лемешко, заступниця міського голови Полтави Ольга Величко, заступник директора Департаменту охорони здоров’я Полтавської ОВА Юрій Курилко та митрополит Полтавський і Кременчуцький Федір.
Олександр Лемешко підкреслив, що медична освіта — це шлях для еліти, і від ставлення студентів до навчання залежить, зокрема, і майбутнє держави. Тож «прагніть, вчіться і творіть незалежність країни! Все буде Україна!» — наголосив він.
Юрій Курилко привітав першокурсників, зазначивши, що підготовка нової генерації медиків є життєво важливою для системи охорони здоров’я як області, так і всієї держави.
Ольга Величко назвала студентів переможцями, адже вони вже пройшли великі випробування, обравши один із найпрестижніших вишів країни. Лікар — це завжди звучить гордо, тож несіть це звання з честю».
Митрополит Федір висловив свою віру в майбутнє України, побачивши ентузіазм і молодий запал першокурсників. «Коли я побачив вас, у мене з’явився оптимізм і віра в те, що Україна є і буде. Дякую, що обрали служити своїй державі».
Студенти урочисто склали клятву й отримали символічний Ключ знань та студентський квиток. Атмосферу свята доповнили виступи творчих колективів — народного ансамблю танцю «Юність», ансамблю бально-спортивного танцю «Орхідея» та вокального ансамблю «Мальви».
Першокурсники ПДМУ-2025 стали частиною великої історії, успадкувавши найкращі традиції української медицини. Тепер саме їхні знання та сила духу стануть фундаментом для подальшого розвитку медицини та процвітання нашої держави.

Ceremonial Matriculation of First-Year Students at PSMU
On September 2, 2025, Poltava State Medical University held its matriculation ceremony for first-year students. Students, faculty, and honored guests gathered in the university courtyard to mark the beginning of the new academic year.
Traditionally, the ceremony began with a moment of silence to honor the memory of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians who died as a result of russian aggression.
Opening the celebration, PSMU Rector, Professor Viacheslav Zhdan, addressed the freshmen:
“Today is a special day for our university, as we welcome a new generation. These are not just students — they are future doctors who have chosen one of the most noble professions in the world. The profession of a doctor is a calling that requires dedication, humanity, and constant self-improvement. Thanks to our Defenders, we have the unique opportunity to pursue this important path. Remember: you will receive not only a diploma but also a lifelong obligation, a testament to your readiness for the great mission of helping people. I wish you strength, inspiration and success on this responsible journey!”
Honored guests also extended their greetings to the new students:
Oleksandr Lemeshko, Deputy Chairman of the Poltava Regional Council, emphasized that medical education is a path for the elite, and the students’ attitude toward their studies will shape the future of the state: “Strive, learn, and build the independence of our country! Ukraine will prevail!
Yurii Kurylko, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, highlighted that training a new generation of doctors is vital for the healthcare system of both the region and the entire country.
Olha Velychko, Deputy Mayor of Poltava, called the students winners, as they had already overcome great challenges by choosing one of the most prestigious universities in the country: “Being a doctor is always a matter of pride — carry this title with honor.”
Metropolitan Fedir of Poltava and Kremenchuk expressed his faith in Ukraine’s future after seeing the enthusiasm and youthful energy of the first-year students: “When I saw you, I felt optimism and faith that Ukraine exists and will endure. Thank you for choosing to serve your state.”
The students solemnly took the oath and received the symbolic Key of Knowledge along with their student ID cards. The festive atmosphere was enriched by performances of creative groups — the folk-dance ensemble “Yunist”, the ballroom dance ensemble “Orkhideia”, and the vocal ensemble “Malvy.”
The freshmen of PSMU-2025 became part of a great history, inheriting the best traditions of Ukrainian medicine. Now their knowledge and strength of spirit will serve as the foundation for the further development of medicine and the prosperity of the nation.
